Joe Wyborn

I’m glad you’re taking the time to read this. It means you’re interested in coming to one of the best places on earth.

Kiwis describe it as a slice of paradise and while trying not to sound too cheesy, it’s not a bad description.

My name is Joe Wyborn and I have worked for the Pyes since I immigrated to New Zealand in 1998. My back ground is in farming. Since long before I left school I can remember wanting to do nothing but!!! Having studied at Berkshire College of agriculture for a year and been on a young farmers exchange to Denmark, it was time to travel further a field and New Zealand was to be the place.

Having met my now wife Suz in New Zealand on my OE, we went back to the UK so my wife could look round the UK and Europe, but NZ was to be our home.

So on returning to NZ I found work with the Pye family. This started as a summer job driving a wrapper, which lead to full time employment. Ten years on and having gone on to managing the contracting business for nearly 9 years, I have now returned to my love for stock and am sharemilking on one of the Pye Family’s dairy farms.

So what are you getting yourself in for in coming to NZ and working for the Pyes? From my experience a lot of fun, hard work and a chance to meet and get to know some great people. One of the best compliments for Michelle and Leighton is the fact that so many staff come back or like me never go home.

I hope this has helped you with your decision whether or not to come to NZ, and if I see you in the pub mine’s a Speights!!!
